Each piece is made to order and handcrafted in small batches

Dressed up or dressed down, the KARIGAR Shawl can be a part of your everyday style.

Use as a wrap to stay comfortable on flight or throw it over your shoulders on a summer evening – its unique combination of wool and wild peace silk makes the handmade Shawl a treasured fashion must-have for all seasons.

Designed in the heritage canal district of Amsterdam (Prinsengracht), each piece is handmade in small batches by 15 Himalayan artisans using material sourced from the Himalayan forests.

The Shawl is created over weeks – from the time artisans spin the silk cocoon into a unique peace silk yarn to the time it is woven on a traditional loom in combination with pure wool.

With every Shawl we promise just the right amount of human imperfection!

Our mission is to bring you smart fashion made by rural artisans.

We want people to look and feel special when they wear a KARIGAR product because we know how hard it is to find a natural product that’s both stylish and has a story that stands out from the crowd.

We try to make responsible choices at every step of our creation process – from sourcing the raw materials to ensuring that the water, post-dyeing, is disposed safely.

But it takes a lot more than travelling to the source to create high fashion. We speak the subtle language of design translation and before every new crafting process, we train our artisan partners on what a beautiful product should looks like if it must work internationally.

The importance of standardization, knowing global quality requirements and an eye for consistent colour and detail are the skills they learn from us that take them far for the rest of their working life.
